When I convened the first conference on Women's Health & the Environment in Boston fourteen years ago, I wanted to arm women with information about the relationship between the environment and their health.
At the 2010 Conference, The Heinz Endowments sponsored a Student Media Competition, the first foundation-sponsored journalism contest in the region. Several teams from local universities participated in the competition. The winning team was from the School of Communications and Information Systems at Robert Morris University.
Due to the overwhelming registration response, the conference will be streamed live online, and you'll have the opportunity to join in as part of an Internet audience that will have the ability to watch every moment of the conference in real time and also participate by e-mailing comments and questions to speakers during the event.

The conference takes place at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center (DLCC) in the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom. The DLCC is the first "green" convention center in the world, and the only meeting venue to be awarded the Gold LEED© Certification by the US Green Building Council.

Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The conference will feature nationally renowned environmental scientists, writers and activists who will share the newest science examining the possible link between the environment and our health. Our morning speakers will share scientific data to support the way in which toxins affect us. Afternoon speakers will share solutions that will enlighten us about lifestyle choices we can make to create a healthier environment for ourselves and our families.
